Gunmen kill FUTA deputy registrar

Gunmen have shot and killed a Deputy Registrar of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) Ondo State, Dr Amos Arijesuyo.

Dr. Arijesuyo was said to have been attacked by gunmen last Saturday in his private vehicle along the Ilesa-Akure road.

He died of injuries from the gunshots, Channelstv said.

A statement by the Deputy Director, Corporate Communications of the university, Adegbenro condemned the attack on the Registrar.

“The University condemns in the strongest terms this senseless attack that has led to the untimely death of an erudite University administrator and counsellor per excellence. Dr. Arijesuyo’s death is a big loss to FUTA, the academic community in Nigeria,  and beyond.

“Our prayers and thoughts are with the wife, children and family members of our departed colleague at this difficult period of unquantifiable grief.

“May the Good Lord grant them the fortitude to bear this irreparable and painful loss and grant the deceased eternal repose.”

The deceased was until his death the Head, Guidance and Counselling Unit, Students Affairs Division of the university.

He was said to also be a Pastor in the Christ Apostolic Church in FUTA area.
