Some gunmen, on Tuesday afternoon, attacked some traditional rulers in a meeting, at Nnenasa Community in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State.
It was gathered that the traditional rulers, numbering over 20, were at the local government headquarters at Nnenasa for a meeting when the gunmen stormed the council and shot as they advanced on the meeting party.
A source said that no fewer than five of the traditional rulers were shot dead on the spot, while a handful of them sustained varying injuries. The injured ones were evacuated to a hospital in the neighbourhood.
The Imo State Police Command through its spokesman, Mike Abatam confirmed the incident, saying two of the traditional rulers were killed and declined to give further details.
