An Islamic Non-Governmental Organisation, Sisters of Jannah (SOJ), Ilorin Zone, has extended its charity activities to the General Hospital, Ilorin, presenting monetary gifts to patients.
The visit, which took place on Sunday, saw members of the association visiting the postnatal surgical ward, gynecological ward, and maternity wards. During the visit, they offered prayers and gave hope to the patients.
Mrs. Rukayat Balogun led the members in prayers for the patients’ speedy recovery, followed by the presentation of N10,000 monetary gifts to 10 patients each.
The patients expressed their happiness and gratitude to the members of the association for their kind gesture, praying that the members remain in good health.
Mrs. Mistura Afolabi, the SOJ Coordinator for the Ilorin Zone, stated that the essence of the visit was to show love and uphold one of the teachings of Islam concerning caring for the sick.
She said, “Members just deemed it fit to visit the patients, give them hope, and let them know they have not been forgotten, as well as support them in a small way.”
“As the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) advised that we should be each other’s keepers and also a shoulder to lean on, we decided to come to give hope and show love to the sick people. Also, one of the agendas of SOJ is to show love to the less privileged and the vulnerable,” Mrs. Afolabi added.
She noted that the gifts donated to the patients came from monthly dues from members of the association and donations from well-wishers.
SOJ is a female-only Muslim group with different zones across Nigeria, dedicated to helping fellow Muslim women and children around the world.
The Ilorin Zone of the group has been involved in various charitable activities, such as free cancer screenings for women, building wells, donating school items, and visiting orphanages and correctional CENTERS
