As the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares to conduct its nationwide state congresses today, a group, APC-Non Aligned Movement has described the setting-up of a screening committee to screen all the aspirants jostling to contest for state executives of the party in Oyo State as a welcome development.

The group, while welcoming the state congress screening committee members led by Engr Idris Adeoye to the state, commended the leadership of the party for setting up the committee.

The group made this known in a statement issued by Mr Bili Azeez on behalf of the group in its reaction to the setting up of the committee.

According to the group, “we are mostly happy and believe that having this committee does not only satisfied the constitutional provision of our great party but a beautiful way to determine who qualifies for a position in the party and will save the party of any litigation that may arise from the congress exercise.

“Ahead of the committee work, we are ever ready to assist the hardworking men of our party to fish out unqualified members.

“Paramount is the Oke Ogun leader of the party who chose to use his abode as the venue for the conduct of the selection of the chairmanship position needed to Oke Ogun 1, Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi who staged-managed the Oke Ogun Zone 1 meeting on Wednesday at his residence in Ilero, Kajola Local Government Area.

“The said party chieftain does not and can not even contest the said election as he only purchased the nomination form for national delegate during the local government congress instead of obtaining the state delegate nomination form.

“We believe that Alhaji Gbadamosi is a veteran in the field of politics and he needs not be taught on the procedures involved in the nomination and participation in the state election process. He could not vote or be voted for at the state congress.

“Therefore, he can only be at the venue of the congress as an observer and should seize to parade himself as an aspirant for any position in today’s state congress.”

The group, in conclusion, thanked all loyal party members of the party for being law-abiding and commended their immeasurable love for the party.

The group also welcome all participants to the venue of the congress taking place this morning at Liberty Stadium, Oke-Ado, Ibadan.
