For Chief Bisi Akande, It’s A Case Of Trouble Sleep, Yanga Go Wake Am

For Chief Bisi Akande

On Thursday 7th December 2021, Chief Bisi Akande unveiled his autobiography in a colourful ceremony that had in attendance Mr President, Muhammadu Buhari. “My Participations” was meant as a chronicle of not just the former Governor of Osun State’s life but his action (and inactions) in public offices.

However, UNCENSORED cannot recall any autobiography (or even biography) that has generated so much opprobrium from persons mentioned in such narrative. Not even the rambunctious Malam Nasir El-Rufai’s Accidental Public Servant has elicited this much flank since it was released in 2013.

Aside from Pa Ayo Adebanjo’s accusation of prevarication, almost a dozen others have accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain of telling half-truths and in some instances, outright lies. To some who wish to be mild, they simply described it as a case of the kettle calling the pot Mr black. This has led some, including Chief Olabode George, to advise him to withdraw the book and apologise to Yoruba elders.

To convince sceptics that Baba Akande is not what he claims he is, photographs of another skyscraper property of his, allegedly built during his governorship of Osun and located in his hometown, Ila-Orogun’s Central Market, has since gone viral. It is one structure a commentator likened to a “General Hospital” in its humongous architectural arrogance. For emphasis, it is different from the one that Baba Ayo Adebanjo queried where he got the money to build.

In all these, what is of importance to UNCENSORED is that to convince Nigerians that he really “participated”, Chief Akande should take up the challenge posed by Pa Adebanjo by revealing how he built his houses at Ila-Orangun, some other properties he has in Lagos and abroad allegedly financed by Bola Tinubu, his house in Ibadan alleged to have been built by the contractor that built the secretariat in Osogbo when he was the Governor of Osun State.

Until Chief Akande can do this, he lacks the moral rectitude to point fingers. QED
