FIFA invites Super Eagles supporters club chairman, Okumagba to Qatar 2021 as number 1 fan in Nigeria

The supreme body for football worldwide, The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has identified the number one football fan in Nigeria and accordingly extended an invitation to him to join other delegates from around the world in the biggest football show in the world post-COVID-19, the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup.

In the letter sent to Lagos NigeriafromFIFA Headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, the world football governing body congratulated Prince Vincent Okumagba for his years of dedication to football supporters in Nigeria while confirming his special invitation to witness the 10th edition of the Arab world’s national team football tournament which will be the first edition with the FIFA Arab Cup branding.

“You have been selected from Nigeria for our Fan Leader Visit to Qatar to experience the rich culture of the country and to take in the FIFA Arab Cup 2021 first hand. The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy will take care of your return flight ticket, accommodation, food and refreshments, tickets to the matches, transportation around the cities and cultural tours as well as any COVID-19 testing required in Qatar”, the letter read.

When contacted, Prince Okumagba acknowledged receipt of the letter and revealed that this is the birth of a new dawn in football supporters in Nigeria.

“I am dedicating this recognition by FIFA to all members of the Super Eagles Supporters Club. Without the field and the office members, this couldn’t have been possible. I must also commend the Pinnick Amaju led NFF board for creating the enabling environment for football to thrive and develop in our dear country. I want to tell you that we are now re-energised, we are now more committed to supporting football come rain, shine or snow, there is no stopping us”, an elated supporters club boss disclosed to this reporter over the phone.

The FIFA Arab Cup 2021 consisting of 16 teams from two confederations of Africa and Asia is scheduled to take place between 30 November and 18 December 2021 in Qatar, as a prelude to the 2022 FIFA World Cup which will also be held in Qatar.
