FC One Rockets Eliminated from Super 8 Tourney, Lose to Heartland 0-1

“Football can be very cruel”, the coach of FC One Rockets Ndubuisi Ndah, a former Nigerian International muttered after it dawned on him that his side had just been eliminated from the Super 8 NNL Play-offs.

The Uyo based side lost agonizingly by one goal to nothing to Heartland to become the first team to be condemned to another year in the 2nd tier of Nigeria Football.

Olasunkanmi Quadri’s solitary strike in the first half ensured that the opposition, Heartland of Owerri went home with the maximum points despite being on the back foot for most of the game.

“They are a very youthful side. They are a very determined side. They have determination going for them. They are a very good side”, Coach Obi Christian of Heartland analyzed the opposition when asked to comment about the FC One Rocket he had just played against.

“We are going to adjust. We will change the side and adjust to the opposition in the next match”, Christian Obi reflected on his coming game against Sporting Lagos, a match to decide their fate in the ongoing NNL play offs.

Tuesday is a rest day for all participating teams in the championship.
