Every child and teacher counts — Yaman

The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Candidate, PDP, in Kwara State, Alh. Abdullahi Shuaibu Yaman has reiterated his unflinching commitment to the welfare and well-being of every child and teacher in the state if elected as the next governor.

In a statement issued in Ilorin by his special adviser on media and strategy, Abdulwahab Oba, Yaman said his vision is to ensure that every child receives quality education in a conducive environment through quality and well-trained teachers.

“We need more than painting classrooms to develop our education sector. My vision is to ensure that we make our schools friendly and platforms for our unity and not avenues for exhibiting our differences as a state of heterogeneous nationalities”, Yaman promised.

According to the gubernatorial candidate “our primary and secondary schools’ education curricula need to be brought up to standard with contemporary development to give our children the right type of education that makes them self-reliant, employable and confident to face the world.

“While remaining resolute in my commitment to reabsorb the sacked so-called sunset teachers, we would also allow our teachers to be at their very best, by providing them with the right environment to teach, and by training them continuously and ensuring that they get paid when due”, Yaman said.

“We shall initiate a reward system that motivates actors in the education system and re-establish the essential decency of our people through which we can build a more prosperous state”, Yaman assured kwarans.

According to the leading gubernatorial candidate, “there shall be an apprenticeship program for those who don’t want to go to college by optimizing the scale of operations of our vocational college which the previous government had created for this purpose”.

Alh. Yaman assured Kwarans that no workers legitimately employed shall be disengaged under his administration.
