Enyimba edge Rangers in Oriental Derby 2-1

With the front runners, Rivers United and Plateau United not in action, the Oriental Derby in Aba between Enyimba and Rangers ultimately became the match of the day.

⁰And it was the Aba Elephants that completed a double over Enugu Rangers after a 2-1 comeback victory in the feisty clash that headlined Matchday 22 of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) fixtures.

The Peoples’ Elephants had claimed the match points in the reverse fixture following a 1-0 win in Nnewi and were all out to complete the double in Aba.

But it was Rangers who drew the first blood in the 14th minute when Ossy Martins rounded up Enyimba goalkeeper Bassa Djeri and scored following a through pass from Chidebere Okorie
.
Enyimba restored parity in the 32nd minute when Adekunle Adeleke found Victor Mbaoma in a good position and the forward calmly shot past Seidu Mutawakilu in goal for Rangers.

Mbaoma got his brace and Enyimba’s turnaround was complete in the 66th minute when he leapt highest to head in a cross from substitute Cyril Olisema.

The victory again, brings respite the way of Enyimba gaffer, Finidi George, as the Aba warlords continue to climb the league ladder.
