Edo Queens, Delta Queens Renew Rivalry as Battle for NWFL Title Begins in Asaba

The draws for the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super 6 competition was on Monday evening concluded at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium Asaba, throwing up very interesting fixtures as the 6 teams were divided into two groups with each group winners proceeding to the final while the runners up slug it out in the 3rd place game.

Group A comprises women football giants, Rivers Angels, the winners of the league in 2021, Bayelsa Queens the winners of the league in 2022 while Robo Queens, winners of the Betsy Obaseki Cup 2022, make up the list.

Group B has got eternal rivals, Delta Queens and Edo Queens, 2 sides from the old Bendel state with Confluence Queens completing the line up.

The Women Super 6 championship kicks off on Tueday with FC Robo Queens taking on Rivers Angels at 10.00am in the morning while Delta Queens slug it out with Confluence Queens of Lokoja at 4.00pm.

Edo Queens will be filing out for their opener on Wednesday against Confluence Queens on Day 2 by 04.00pm in the afternoon as Bayelsa Queens will get their first taste of the battle against FC Robo at 10.00am in the morning.

Day 3 comes up on Friday after a general rest day on Thursday with the battle of all battles coming up between Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens by 10.00am while another thriller awaits by 4.00pm with hosts Delta Queens taking on Edo Queens by 4.00pm.

The 3rd place and final has been fixed for Sunday, 11th June, by 10.00am and 4.00pm respectively.

The winner of the NWFL Super 6 will go ahead to represent Nigeria at the West African Football Union (WAFU) Cup, which serves as a qualifier for the CAF Women Champions League.
