Dangote: $2.4bn of $5.5bn Refinery Loan Repaid

Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, has announced that $2.4 billion of the $5.5 billion loan taken for his refinery project has been repaid.

Speaking on the challenges faced during the project, Dangote admitted that he expected some resistance but was surprised by the intensity of opposition.

“Well, I knew there would be a fight. But I didn’t realize the oil mafia was stronger than the drug mafia. That’s a fact,” he said.

He revealed that both local and international mafias made numerous attempts to sabotage the refinery’s success.

Dangote, known for his resilience, stated that these mafias had “tried all sorts” to stop him.

“But I’m someone who has been fighting all my life. It’s part of my life to fight,” he said.

He mentioned that the struggle is ongoing but remains confident of victory with the support of the Nigerian people and the government.

Dangote also emphasized the need for Africa to become self-sufficient in production, noting the lack of support from Western nations for the continent.
