A Family Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State has remanded two men in Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling minors.

A press release made available to Rulers’ World by the Oyo State Public Relation Officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Chief Superintendent of Corps (CSC) Oluwole Olusegun stated that the two suspects were charged to court by Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit and have been remanded at Abolongo Correctional Centre, Oyo.

The release quotes NSCDC CC, Adaralewa Michael, as saying that the first suspect, Kayode Akinsile, (60), male, of Alafara Ona-Ara, Ibadan was first arrested on 15th June 2021 and was granted bail but went ahead to defile another minor.

The second suspect Dr Ajelere Ajewumi, (68) male from Oki Olodo, Ibadan was also arrested for illegal adoption and defilement of a 14-year-old girl.

The Chief Magistrate P. O. Adetoyibo of Family Court 2 Iyaganku, Ibadan, after taking the plea of the accused persons remanded them Abolongo Correctional Centre till September.

Commandant Michael made it known that the two suspects were arraigned after forensic/medical examination and thorough investigations were carried out on the victims. He warned those who still indulge in defiling minors or assault women to desist as NSCDC will deal decisively with anybody caught in such an act.

He however advised parents to be more responsible in caring for their children, even as he encouraged children to be disciplined and be good ambassadors of their various homes and family.
