Blame Christians In APC Over Muslim-Muslim Ticket, Not Tinubu — Oshiomhole

Adams Oshiomhole has pointed fingers at some unnamed Christian chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as being behind the stiff opposition to the choice of the former Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima by the ex-Lagos governor, Bola Tinubu in the build-up to the 2023 presidential election.

Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the APC has come under scathing criticism for a choice of a fellow Muslim as his running mate in next year’s presidential election.

Two prominent members of the APC, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, David Babachir Lawal have been at the forefront of the campaign against the same faith ticket.

Meanwhile, the former APC National Chairman said the criticisms against the party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket was unfortunate.

Oshiomhole told newsmen in Abuja on Thursday that the problems of Nigeria are bigger than disagreements over religion.

The former Edo State governor described the position of critics of the emergence of Senator Kashim Shettima as Tinubu’s running mate as blackmail.

“Those leading the campaign in the APC family – if they were such believers in Christianity – had the opportunity to canvass for votes for one of the Christian candidates.

“But they were on record as having led the campaign on the side of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, knowing very well that he is a Muslim”, he claimed.
