Beware of cloudy weather during festive season — RTEAN boss cautions Motorists

The Chairman of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria,Kwara Branch, Alh.AbdulRahman Onikijipa, has advised RTEAN members and motorists to drive carefully and beware of cloudy weather during the busy festive season.

Onikijipa,who gave the warning in Ilorin at the weekend in an interview with Jounalists ,said road users must be sensitive to cloudy weather to avoid unwanted crashes during festivity.

According to him, the weather is always cloudy and not as clear as expected during this season.

” There is need for motorist to be careful and be very sensitive to the weather. The weather is not clear enough during this season.

” Do not rush to get to your destination. You may not see your sorroundings clearly enough.

” We have sensitise our members to be caution and avoid overspeeding. It is better to arrive safely than to lost your life in desperation,” he said.

The chairman also advised members not to allow themselves been use as agents of destruction in the upcoming 2023 general election.

He,however advised members to get their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and exercise their voting rights.

” Go out and vote on election day.You are not expected to go out and act as a political thug for any politician,” he warned.

Onikijipa also called on Federal Government to urgently intervene in the lingering fuel scarcity and unstable fuel price in the country.

He however advised government to act fast to ease transportation system during festive season.

The chairman also disclosed that sales of Alcohol at parks has been banned with their task force in place to check indiscipline among members.

” There is discipline in our union. We have task force at every park to enforce discipline. No more sales of alcohol at the park or drivers taken any hard substance .

” They are coperating well and behaving decently .We sensitize them consistently and everything is working well in the system,” he said
