Agüero debuts as Barcelona romp

Striker Sergio Agüero made his official FC Barcelona debut in the 85th minute of the 3-1 win against Valencia in Camp Nou on Sunday.

The Argentine came on to replace Sergiño Dest late on and showed glimpses of his class in the short space of time he was on the field.

Sergio ‘Kun’ Agüero was presented as a Barça player on 1 May and has a contract until the end of the 2022/23 season.

His presentation took place on the day of the announcement of his signing and before the forward left to take part in the Copa América where he was part of the winning squad with Argentina.

Agüero was finally able to make his debut after overcoming a calf injury picked up in August.

Barcelona is back to winning ways in La Liga thanks to a hard-fought 3-1 victory against Valencia at Camp Nou on Sunday night.

The Blaugrana conceded an early goal, took the lead before half-time and then had to survive a very good second half from Los Che before securing the victory with a late goal.

Goals from Ansu Fati, Memphis Depay and Philippe Coutinho ensured that the Blaugrana tasted victory for just the second time in seven contests, temporarily easing the building pressure on out-of-favour manager, Ronald Koeman.

It was far from a great performance, but it was solid enough to guarantee an important victory.

Meanwhile, after a hot start that saw them win three of their first four, Valencia is now winless in five and have sunk to ninth in the table.
