SA yet to be identified middle-aged man, alleged to be a Yahoo boy was on Sunday shot dead by policemen at Palm Mall, located at Ring Road area of Ibadan.

The incident reportedly occurred at about 8 pm when some policemen reportedly stormed the mall following an intelligence report that some suspected internet fraudsters were on a rampage at the spot.

It was gathered that some suspected internet fraudsters were taking Indian hemp when police arrived at the mall but while arguing with one of the youths, the victim attempted to escape, he was shot while attempting to evade arrest.

He was said to have been shot in the stomach and died in the process while his corpse was taken away by police.

However, the incident led to the shut down of the mall indefinitely on Monday and was taken over by the police.

The Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, Mr Adewale Osifeso while reacting to the incident, said it was a cult-related case and that detailed investigations were ongoing to apprehend the culprits.
