Ikorodu Bois, a Nigerian e-comedy group that mimics music videos and trailers, and Emmanuella, a 10-year-old comedienne, have been nominated for the 2021 Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards.
Also called the KCAs, the annual United States children awards produced by Nickelodeon, an American television channel, recognises the year’s biggest TV, movie, and music acts as voted by viewers of Nickelodeon networks worldwide.
On Thursday, the award’s organisers released the full list of global entertainers nominated for its 2021 event, which has been billed for broadcast on March 15.
Up for the ‘Favourite African Social Media Star’ category are Elsa Majimbo, Kenyan social media figure; Bonang Matheba (South Africa), Ikorodu Bois; Emmanuella; and Wiam Van den Berg, South Africa social media magician.
MasterKG, South Africa’s ‘Jerusalema’ hitmaker, is in the ‘Global Music Star’ category alongside BTS (Asia), David Guetta (Europe), Savannah Clarke (Australia), Taylor Swift (North America) and Sebastian Yatra (Latin America).
Leading the pack with the most nods is Justin Bieber with five alongside ‘Stranger Things’ with four nominations.
The likes of Ariana Grande, ‘The Croods: A New Age’, Henry Danger, ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’, Soul, ‘Trolls World Tour’, and ‘Wonder Woman 1984’, all tied with three nominations each.
